My Favorite Dark/Bold Lip Products

Hey Everyone!

     Glitter Girl and I have a new obsession: bold lip colors. Not only do they photograph beautifully, but you can apply these pretty quickly to pull your look together. I would wear any of these with my neutral eyes look, or any other natural makeup. I swatched the color to the left of the product, so check those out as well!

My first pick is more of a darker lip, it is Mac's Morning Coffee lip pencil. This is a deep reddish-brown, and it will work with any skin tone. You could top this off with a sheer neutral gloss, or you could make this even deeper with something more opaque. This is a pro long-wear lip pencil, this seriously stays on all day without budging. I like to apply my EOS lip balm to the middle of my lip so I can smudge the pencil around more. This will also lighten the color up in the middle, creating a highlight.





If you are looking for a brighter lip, I love the Basic Red Chromagraphic Pencil. This is so opaque and creamy, the texture of it is incredible. This is a limited edition product, but most CCO's have it. This is more of a orange based red, so it is a nice change from the basic blue based red. Chromagraphic Pencil's are typically a Pro product, but they came out in the Mac For Fall Color collection last fall, so check it out at your nearest outlet!




 My favorite opaque red gloss is Cherry Shine from Sephora. This is a really deep ruby red with a hint of sliver shimmer to it, and this works for layering or on its own. This has SPF 8 in it, so it does include some protection. I love wearing this with a softer shimmery color on my lid and black liner, it is so simple and easy to do if you are in a rush.



Bright pink's can be really flattering on cooler skin tones, but Blossom by BH cosmetics is universally flattering! I love layering a sheer pink over this, you can customize it by putting your favorite sheer lipstick/gloss over it. The BH cosmetics lip liners are waterproof, so they will last throughout the day.





If you want a really bold, opaque, matte red, my favorite is the Tarte fiery Lipsurgence natural matte lip color. This delivers an opaque layer of color in one swipe, it is the perfect blue based red. I actually got to try this in one of the Sephora Beauty Insider Sets, and it has been one of my favorites ever since. This does have a chunkier, round tip, so make sure to use a brush around the edges for the most precise application.

My next favorite is not really bold or a darker color, but it is definitely unique! It is the NYX Black Label Lipstick in 165 Pewter. This is the strangest coppery bronze, but it is actually a really pretty sheer copper. I do not understand why this is called Pewter, the color is the complete opposite. Anyways, this is my favorite color when I want to add a sheer, bronze sheen.






My final deeper lip color is Too Faced Cougar Lipstick. This is a really deep metallic coppery reddish-brown, and it is a lot prettier then the complicated description makes it sound! This is a darker color, so I like to wear it as more of a sheer wash. I love the packaging on this, it feels really secure. I love wearing Mac's Love Nectar over this, the combined shimmer makes your lips look so much fuller.



These are my favorite lip colors of the moment! I really love experimenting with different colors in Fall, you can get away with deeper lip colors and still look put together. DuWop Lip Venom Review & Tutorial

Hey everyone!

      I am really excited about today's post because it is a review/tutorial, and it is featuring the DuWop Lip Venom. I did a post a while ago on how to make your lips look fuller, and that works really well for creating an everyday lip color and making your lips look bigger. This actually makes your lips look bigger, no injections needed!

I know that the DuWop lip venom came out ages ago, but I found a way to make the effect last longer and some new tricks to make them appear fuller. I apply this with the applicator it comes with and leave it on for about two minutes. This will add a little color while making your lips fuller. You can control how full thy get by wiping the product off sooner, but I just leave it on and pat it in for the best results.

After using the plumper, it is really easy to line your lips. I love to use the Mac lip pencil in Subculture, it adds a little color while still being natural. I like to apply this to the edge and then slightly push the line out with a Q-tip. This feathers the line out a little and makes your lips look much fuller, with or without the plumper. After this, fill in the outside, and smudging some into the middle. Keeping the middle of your lips lighter makes them look bigger; it is like highlighting the center of your lid. I don't like to use anything too dark for this, but I like to use a pencil as a base. Using a base for your lips creates a smooth surface, and it will keep any products you apply on top on much longer.

Next, you can choose your favorite lipstick or gloss. I like to apply a sheer layer of Mac's Cream cup lipstick with a 316 and a little bit of the Stila gloss in Malibu. This is a gorgeous soft pink combo, and it really lights up your entire face. I use Cream cup as more of a stain, it will bring everything together.

 If you really want to amp it up, I still have two more tips!

If you want your upper lip to look even fuller, I love highlighting my cupid's bow. The pro's know how to highlight, that is why all of their looks are so perfect looking. I like to use Mac's Soft and Gentle and dab a little on using a Mac 239. Make sure to blend the product out, but focus it in the center. By adding a little shimmer, it will bring the light in, making your upper lip appear much fuller.

 The next tip is like highlighting the center of your lid, it is so simple but it makes a huge difference! I like to use a shimmery eyeshadow like Mac Shroom with a sponge tip applicator and tap a little of it in the center. You can apply this under or over a gloss if you want; I like it better when it is over because it is more effective.

The Perfect Pout

Hey everyone!

Today my friends and I were debating the perfect convincing face, everyone has one. This has kind of turned into my "yeah, seriously" face, so I have been using it a ton! I have found out that the key to this is to slightly open your lips a little to make them look fuller. If you do not have super full lips, this post will show you the key to it!

Lip Liner


MAC Staunchly Stylish Pro Longwear Lip Pencil is the perfect base for a full lip. It has just enough color to define them, but it will also prime the lips to make the product last longer.

I am loving this color!

Over the pencil, I would layer mac's hue lipstick. it is the perfect light pink shade with just enough sheen to make your lips look super full. This goes beautifully with the liner! 

After those steps, apply smashbox O gloss! It will transform to your lip's natural color in gloss form! Over the lipstick and liner, it will be the perfect shade!

Even More Lipgloss!

I have been getting many comments asking what colors they should use if they want a more natural look. Well, the thing is, not all people have the same lip shade. But I guarantee these colors will look natural. I still, think if you are interested in buying some, you should go to a store and try it on because the colors tend to look different on your lips.
The first colors is called Debut. This one will look natural, but will add a little pink to your lips.

This next color is called Pixel. This one will not add pink to your lips, it should just make your lips look glossier. Sorry, i couldn't get the picture to get bigger, but you can still see the color

Smashbox Lipgloss

I don't really wear that much makeup, but I do wear lipgloss. My favorite brand is Smashbox. I use the lip enhancing gloss. The color I'm wearing is called pop.

I chose pop, because it looks very natural, but it just adds some sparkle.  But they have many different colors.

Here you can see some of the colors. There are actually 26  different colors, that vary from dark red, to white. T've never seen anyone actually wear white lipgloss though, I must try it sometime. If you want to get some I would suggest going to a store and trying it on, because the colors look much different when they are on your lips.
