Bright Eyes For Spring + Marilyn Monroe Trick

Happy Spring!

Spring is the perfect time to start bringing out the brighter colors. I wore this look on a shopping trip with some friends and received a ton of good feedback on it! I feel like if I put more time into eyeshadow with colors, people tend to recognize it more than time spent on neutrals. Seriously, the professional at Sephora was going nuts over this.. Keep reading to see how I achieved it!

Is it just me, or is this a pop of color? I feel like it is the perfect way to branch out into brights.

 

Yes, I went back into the Marilyn Monroe makeup basics. Her classical look an be adapted into just about anything!

We know what she is thinking there.. Might as well add a speech bubble. I went a little bit overboard on the graphics here; I was having too much fun!

Winged Eyes and Orange Eyebrows... Wait, what?!?

Yes, I did a double take of the title was well. Disclaimer: this look was not worn in public. Do not try this at home.

Why did I try this? Great question. The Forever Fuchsia team was working on some new looks for posts and we came up with a challenge. Our logo designer picked out a certain number of products for each of us to try and we had to create a look with it. After looking at my kit, I knew there was no hope for the natural look. The madness is explained.

 

Fabulous, right? This actually was not that difficult to do; the products blended well. The eyebrows are actually the NYX lip pencil in Pumpkin, and the eyes came from a combination of MAC's Hi-def Cyan and NYX Jumbo shadow pencils.

Palettes vs Pots

Welcome Back to Forever Fuchsia!
     I have a quick question for you all. If you saw my last tutorial post, then you know that I am going to place an order with MAC soon. I was admiring the latest PRO products (see my favorite products here!) and I saw the new palettes. I love the quads, but they only save around four dollars than getting them in pot form. The 15 color palettes seemed great, but the opaque lid made me continue to purchase the pots. Now, MAC has brought out a palette with a clear lid! You can even purchase different inserts depending on what you want to use it for.

Okay; how much more of a shiny object can you find? These look so sleek. MAC usually raises the prices every year and the pan shadows are much less expensive.

Tropical Eyes

Hey everyone!

     Thank goodness finals are over! It has been one interesting week, and now I can get back to my normal posting schedule! Anyways, I thought it would be fun to do a tutorial on a tropical look. In the summertime, you can get away with colorful looks. I have been loving this look, so here it is!

Instead of starting off with Urban Decay primer potion like I usually do, I am going to use a paint pot. This will give you a colored base, and it will make your shadows stay all day long!

Next I took Lucky Green with a 239 brush and applied it to the outer half of my lid. This green has a little yellow shimmer in it, so it works really well with the paint pot! Also, make sure to get all the way into the upper lash line, the yellow under it will show unless Lucky Green is smudged into the lash line! Then I put this on the inner half of my waterline for more color.

Freshwater is the clearest summer blue that I could think of, so I just had to use it! I used the 213 brush to apply this to the outer "V" also known as the outer third of the lash line following up to the crease. I prefer the 213 instead of a pencil brush because the 213 blends it better. I don't like the look of a harsh line in the crease! After that, I applied this to my un-lined outer half of my waterline. I blended these colors in the center for added definition. I also used this on my upper lashline.

I used the 224 and Blanc Type to highlight my browbone. I do this every time to lift up my eyebrow and make my eyes appear bigger!

I then used Mac False Lash mascara. You know I love this stuff, it works wonders! This formula is perfect, it is not too dry or way too wet. I love it because it holds without flaking all day!

Because this is a summer look, I need to pull off a tan! I used Nars Laguna bronzer with a 168 brush to contour my cheekbones and slightly warm up my face. I like to build the product from the outside of the face when it comes to bronzer, because you contour instead of creating a fake look. If you start the bronzer in the middle of your face when you don't have your perfect tan, it won't look good. If you start from the outside, it is much more natural!

And this is the finished look! I love the waterline in this look, and I think the yellow really brought out my eyes! This will work on any eye color, but it will really make blue eyes pop! Sorry my eye is kind of red, I have been messing with different looks and annoying them all day!

J'adore Dior

Hey Everyone!

     Today's post is not going to be on the perfume J'adore By Dior, but it is on the brand! Sorry, I am in a french mood! Anyways, I have been in love with their eyeshadow palettes lately. They have an extremely soft, almost buttery texture to them that makes it really easy to blend.

This is the Incognito palette. If you want more of a neutral, everyday look, this is for you! The top two remind me of Samoa Silk and Ricepaper from mac, don't you think?

This is the Gris-Gris palette. From their five eyeshadow palettes, this one would be the best for a traditional smokey eye. Well, that type of look is not exactly traditional, but this would work for the average smokey eye! Plus, the black in the center adds a little bit more sparkle, and it really reminds me of black tied from mac!

Rosy Tan would be perfect for a soft look. I would put the softest brown all over the lid and then blend out the pink into the inner corner so it isn't too overwhelming.

Royal Kaki might be my new favorite! I love the soft golden undertones mixing with the steely silver grey ones. This looks like the darkest navy/black and the middle sage green are matte, so you can create depth as well.

Stylish Move is the perfect purple palette. The pink keeps it toned down while the cream color will highlight perfectly. I would love to see the darkest plum as an eyeliner smudged at the lashline. You could create a soft wash of color up to your brow bone and focus the attention to your lashline.

Bleu De Paris is the navy smokey eye palette. If you want something a little different for more of a dramatic look you want to create, this is the palette for you. Personally, I do not really like softer blues on me unless I am doing a tropical look. I would use the silver in this as a base instead of the blue.

This is the Rose Porcelain palette. If you love pink eyeshadows, this would work really well for you! I like purples, but you have to be carful with pinks because they bring out any redness in your eyes. These look like they would be more brightening, but be sure to supplement with the white just in case!

This is the Grège palette. I like this palette because they mixed the undertones in the perfect way. I would call this a jump above the neutral eye because you are experimenting with some darker colors in the palette.

Make a Mac Palette!

So I know that awhile ago Perfectly Pink did a post on Mac blush palettes, but today I am going to talk about Mac eyeshadow Palettes! There are palettes thats contain two eyeshadows ($30.00), four eyeshadows ($53.00), and a 15 eyeshadows palette! ($188.50).
For these Mac palettes, they have ones that are already made, but the cool part is that you can customize your own! You can choose any eyeshadow they have and put it in your palette! But even though it is a bit cheaper to get it in palettes form, I always try to get it in pot form. I just think it's better to have each one in it's one little container. I still love it in palette form too though!
Mac palettes are great because it's cheaper to get them instead of in pan form, you can choose any eyeshadows to put in them, and they are perfect for someone who travels alot and doesn't want to have lots of eyeshadows moving around in her purse or makeup bag.
