Bright Eyes For Spring + Marilyn Monroe Trick

Happy Spring!

Spring is the perfect time to start bringing out the brighter colors. I wore this look on a shopping trip with some friends and received a ton of good feedback on it! I feel like if I put more time into eyeshadow with colors, people tend to recognize it more than time spent on neutrals. Seriously, the professional at Sephora was going nuts over this.. Keep reading to see how I achieved it!

Is it just me, or is this a pop of color? I feel like it is the perfect way to branch out into brights.

Yes, I went back into the Marilyn Monroe makeup basics. Her classical look an be adapted into just about anything!

We know what she is thinking there.. Might as well add a speech bubble. I went a little bit overboard on the graphics here; I was having too much fun!

Tell me in the comments how you wear bright colors. Also make sure to let me know how you like the latest picture format! Thank you for reading!

Winged Eyes and Orange Eyebrows... Wait, what?!?

Yes, I did a double take of the title was well. Disclaimer: this look was not worn in public. Do not try this at home.

Why did I try this? Great question. The Forever Fuchsia team was working on some new looks for posts and we came up with a challenge. Our logo designer picked out a certain number of products for each of us to try and we had to create a look with it. After looking at my kit, I knew there was no hope for the natural look. The madness is explained.

Fabulous, right? This actually was not that difficult to do; the products blended well. The eyebrows are actually the NYX lip pencil in Pumpkin, and the eyes came from a combination of MAC's Hi-def Cyan and NYX Jumbo shadow pencils.

Even though it is strange, I still get points for creativity! Tell me in the comments if you have ever attempted the colored eyebrows trend, and if so, how did you make it work? Thanks for reading!

Spring's New "It" Color

Yes, it is blue. Do not run screaming out the door, I can explain. When I thought of blue eyeshadow, I used to imagine a really bad 80's music video. Trust me, I thought it was pretty crazy too. This is coming from the person that does crazy looks everyday, but I mean, come on, blue? After testing out just about every color imaginable, I knew that there had to be a way to make this work.
I was looking at the Spring/Summer 2013 makeup looks from Fashion Week. Here is my rundown on my favorite looks:
Anna Sui: The face was left very simple. A wash of pool blue shadow was applied to the lid.
Fendi: This one is pretty interesting; a bathing suit was cut up into small strips and used on the lower lash line. Wow.
Clements Riberio: A nautical blue was applied to the upper lash line in a cat eye with a dot on the lower lash line in the middle.
Altuzarra: A deep navy was used for lining the upper lash line and ended in a slight wing.

My S/S 2013 inspired look started with MAC's eyeliner in So There Jade. I applied this to my lid and lower lash line. After stopping the color just before the crease, I blended it out with a small smudge brush like the 214.
The key to getting an interesting mix of textures is to use both creams and powders. I am going to set the creamy eyeliner with MAC's Tilt Eyeshadow. This was applied with a 213 brush to my outer corner and crease.

I am going in with a multi-purpose chromagraphic pencil in Hi-Def Cyan and using it to cut the crease. I actually extended the crease a bit; this is such a beautiful color! After applying the pencil, I buffed it out for a soft edge using a 217.
I love the look of the shadows fading into the skin, so I made sure this transition was seamless.

I wanted to slightly highlight the inner corner for a pop of aqua. This is actually softer than the other colors; it blends into the look very well. I applied this on a very small pencil brush to my inner corner.

Most of the model's wearing blue on the eyes sported a soft lip. They either had a light layer of concealer or nothing at all. I wanted a really soft lip with a hint of color, so I used the BH Cosmetics lip liner in earth.

This kind of resembles the makeup at the Monique Lhuillier show without the gold in the inner corner. I love that blue is finally coming back with a twist.
I also have some good news to share! I finally figured out how to use my new camera! (claps and cheers from the crowd) Let me know in the comments if you can see a difference in quality; I think it looks so much better! Also leave me a note and tell me if you are going to try the blue trend this spring. Feel free to request a post, and make sure to follow us on twitter! Thanks for reading!

Mint Chocolate Chip Eyes

Hey Everyone!

I have a really simple tutorial that takes about five minutes to complete. I know it can be difficult to pull off brings colors in the winter, so I decided to use a more subtle green and a wing to make it a fun and (kind of) practical look! Keep reading to see how I completed it.

Easy, right? Feel free to add more contours/ highlights; I just loved the simplicity of it. Tell me in the comments how you incorporate bring colors into your beauty routine, and follow us on twitter under the username @foreverfuchsia. Feel free to request a post and thank you for reading!

Honey and Bronze Eyes

Hey everyone!

I was working on another simple neutral look and I came up with this! Keep reading to see the simple steps to achieve this.

I started by applying a creamy yellow base all over my lid. This is Treasure Hunt paint pot by MAC.

I applied MAC's Tweet Me eyeshadow to the outer half of my lid with a 239 brush to make my eyes appear larger.

Next, I applied the Cream Color Base in Bronze for a bit of a glow. I used a BH Cosmetics Concealer brush to smudge this on the outer corner.

To finish the look, apply a hunter green eyeliner to my upper lash line. I also applied fascinating eyeliner to my waterline.
That is it! I have a mint chocolate chip tutorial coming up, so keep an eye out for that! Tell me in the comments what posts you would like to see; I feel like I am getting into a tutorial rut. I am really excited about an upcoming event; I am finally going to indulge in a MAC haul! I have picked up random products over the past year, but I have not purchased a major "haul worthy" amount. I am loving the latest palette update... More shadows are ahead. Anyways, thank you for reading!

Pop of Emerald

Hey Everyone!

I was messing around with some blues and greens and I wanted to attempt to wear them in an everyday look. I love how it turned out; it is so much fun! Keep reading to see how I created it!

Start by priming the lids with a neutral primer.

I wanted to use a soft pink base to add a hint of shimmer, so I used the NYX jumbo shadow pencil in Yogurt.

I used an ELF 32 color palette for the green. The color I used in the third one in on the second row.

I applied Steamy by MAC to the outer corner with a 239 brush. After blending Steamy out, I lined my upper lash line with Plumage and applied it to my crease as well.

Apply mascara and that's it! Tell me in the comments if you have been wearing bright colors this winter. At first I thought I was crazy for trying to pull off brights, but I love it! Feel free to request a post in the comments and thanks for reading!

Winter Necessities

Hey Everyone!

I am in the Christmas spirit. Yes, I know, Thanksgiving just ended, but I am a total Christmas addict! I love seeing the first snowfall, decorating the tree, and editing my beauty routine. Instead of going toward the cooler color palette, I decided to incorporate some warmer tones. Keep reading to see my favorites!

I love Rubenesque because it works for a base or by itself. This is also picture friendly; it makes your eyes stand out without it looking like there is a disco ball on your eyelids. The reason Paint Pots are so popular from MAC is mainly because they are technically a cream to powder product; they apply as a base for the shadows and then dry down to a powder to lock in the colors.
The best way to look wide awake is to line your upper lash line. By winging this product out, it makes your eyes look much bigger, making you look well rested. I am switching from black liner to brown for a change; it doesn't appear as harsh but it still defines the eyes. Another way to play with blacks and browns is to use black on the upper lash line and brown on the lower. I would not pair black and brown together, but for eyeliner, it works.
I love a classical red lip. It adds the glamorous factor to any outfit, but it can be tricky to pull off. By applying a neutral coral to the center, you are toning down the cool tones in the red, making it more wearable.

Those are my tips to tweak your look for the holiday season! Tell me in the comments what you like to do for your winter look, and feel free to request a post. Falling Leaves

Hey Everyone!

I am so excited to finally get up a fall tutorial! I have been messing around with so many looks for Halloween, I still have not done a fall look. Hopefully this makes up for the absent tutorials, and let's get started!
I wanted to start by priming my eyes with Urban Decay's primer potion. This makes your shadows more opaque and also helps them last all day. I applied this with a MAC 242 brush, from my upper lash line to my brow bone.

I wanted to start adding defining my eyes, so I applied MAC's Gold Carbon Metal X cream eyeshadow to my crease. This is a very sheer product, I wanted to add a natural layer of depth before I started layering on the shadows.

I love the NARS Multiples. They are extremely pigmented, and you can use them on eyes, lips, and cheeks. I chose NARS Lamu multiple and applied it to the inner half of my eyes to start adding in the fall colors.

The key to any bold eye is to cut the crease with a deeper color. I love MAC's Embark because it sets off my eyes and is a dream to work with, so I applied it to my crease with a 213. This gives a very sharp line that can be blended out. Don't be afraid to layer products; it is harder to get a ton off but easier to layer them on.

MAC's Coppering eyeshadow can be scary on it's own, but it is the perfect addition to any fall look because of the shimmery texture. I blended out my crease by applying Coppering with a 224 brush. This blended out Embark while adding a hint of red.

I want a neutral canvas for my lid, so I decided to place MAC's Coquette all over my lid with a 222 brush. This makes it a little more matte without hiding Lamu in the inner corner. Another secret is to keep everything balanced; a good blend of mattes and shimmers does the trick.
I love to add a pop of color on the lower lash line, so I chose MAC's Soft Brown and applied it with a 239. This is a Matte reddish brown, and it will work with any eye color.

I needed a little hint of a frosty bronze, so I applied Amber Lights to the inner half of my lid with a 239. This gives a subtle pop of color, and it will open up your eyes.

The last step to the shadows is to blend out the different crease colors. I decided to use MAC's Club eyeshadow in my crease to tie all of the color in together. I originally applied this with a 213 to the crease, and then blended it out with a 224.

The final steps include applying mascara and eyeliner to finish the eyes. I used Urban Decay's Bourbon 24/7 eyeliner on the waterline and upper lash line because the flecks of gold in the rich brown make the eyes stand out.

This is the final eye look! This will work on any eye color, but it really makes blue eyes stand out. This goes into color theory, but the orange and red tones in this look are the key to making blue eyes pop. You can easily make this more natural or dramatic; you can do this by using a softer hand on the eyeliner.

For the face, I just contoured and highlighted like I normally would. I wanted to create a deep berry lip that was still substantial, but it would still let the eyes be the focus. I first applied NYX's pumpkin lip pencil to the center to highlight, and then filled in the rest with MACs Morning Coffee lip pencil. I topped it off with one coat of my EOS lip balm and then I was good to go!

That concludes my fall tutorial! Tell me in the comments how you alter your color palette for fall, and feel free to request a post. Make sure to follow to stay updated on the latest posts, and thanks for reading!

It's Fantastic To Be Plastic: A Halloween Tutorial

Hey Everyone!

I seriously thought I had more time to get these Halloween tutorials out, but it is coming up too soon! I had to narrow the tutorials down to one, so I apologize in advance for the looks that have not been posted. I have always loved the "Barbie" look, so I had to do my dream tutorial! Keep reading to see my Barbie transformation.

I wanted to start with a white/pink base that will open up my eyes and make them appear larger. I decided on MAC's Let's Skate paint pot because it is a gorgeous golden pink that is full of glitter! How could it become any more Barbie-ish? Apply any shimmery color all over your lid and stop it right when you get to the crease.

You can really use any colors that you want, but I decided on the pinks and periwinkles to make the classical Barbie. I wanted to bring out the golden flecks of glitter in the paint pot, so I applied MAC's Expensive Pink with a fluffy blending brush all over the lid.

I wanted to make my eyes huge, so using cosmetics for special affects can come in handy. Makeup is all about bringing shadows and light to your face, so I applied a little of MAC's Vanilla pigment to the inner corners of my eyes. This will make them seem larger because the light will come in and reflect the pigment, making them appear much bigger. I also added a BH Cosmetics single shadow in a bright pink to the crease and lower lash line to add an extra Barbie touch.

Barbie's deep set eyes can be tricky to create; I decided to go with Poison Pen by MAC to define my crease. You can use some advanced techniques like following the shape of your eye to complete an inner wing, but using a pencil brush with any dark color will give a similar look.

This is the fun part: eyeliner! I wanted to create the look on huge, innocent eyes, so I started with a thin line all around. Barbie seems to have perfect makeup, I did not smudge any of the lines to keep it as close to perfection as possible. After completing the line, I winged out the top and added lower lashes on the bottom to make my eyes wider.

The wide awake look is hard enough to get on an everyday basis; I was contemplating how to achieve this when I needed it at a Barbie level! I decided to use my go-to weapon, MAC's Fascinating Eye kohl. I feel like I use this in every tutorial, it is so simple but it makes such a difference. I applied this to the waterline and exaggerated the inner corners to make the line fluid.

Here comes the scary part: false eyelashes. These look rather suspicious in the product picture, but they look stunning on! I used the NYX falsies and Ardell 105 lashes to achieve this look. These combined make the eyes huge, really make the Bambi eyed look. Yes, I need to come up with better comparisons!

I needed to create some supermodel cheekbones for this look, so I decided to use Shadester and Emphasize from MAC's pro sculpting product line to create them.
I applied Shadester with a 168 brush to the hollows of my cheekbones and then blended the product up. The more that you cast a shadow under your cheekbone, the higher they will appear.
Emphasize is the perfect highlight, it is natural without being too dull, but it will enhance without being full of chunky glitter.

I used my BH Cosmetics 10 professional blush palette to get Barbie's rosy cheeks. I applied the brightest pink/fuchsia  in the left row to the apples of my cheeks with a MAC 116 brush. This accented my newly formed bone structure, and it gave my the signature Barbie flush.
I did not mention anything about eyebrows in the previous steps; go ahead and make your brows thinner with a higher arch if you haven't already. I have naturally full eyebrows, so I focused the brow pencil in the middle to make them appear thinner.

Raspberry lip pencil by BH Cosmetics was exactly what I needed to get a bright pink lip. You can use any shade of pink for this; I just decided to go bolder for the tutorial.
Sorry for the obnoxiously full lips in this picture; it stretched a little to far when I was putting the pictures together! You can make your lips as full as you want for this look, but keeping the normal shape is fine too.

To finish off the lips, I applied MAC's Snob lipstick to the center with a 316 brush. This had a slight ombre look to it, which completed what I was going for. Finish it off with a clear gloss and you are done!
That is how turned myself into a human barbie doll!
I am so sorry this came out so late; if you are still searching for a Halloween look hopefully this helps. Make sure to check out my Fairy Dust and Green With Envy Halloween tutorials for some added inspiration. Have fun with these looks, and Happy Halloween!
